(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Data center and network access point Phoenix NAP (www.phoenixnap.com), which officially opened the doors to its facility in June, announced on Thursday that it has partnered with Denver-based colocation firm PeakColo, a customer at the Phoenix NAP facility, to offer new opportunities to customers of both companies.

Because PeakColo has a presence in the Phoenix NAP, as well as two data centers in Denver, clients at either location will be able to use the other as a geographic backup site for data, says Phoenix NAP.

According to Phoenix NAP president Ian McClarty, Denver is an attractive market for the extension of the company’s presence, though the emphasis seems to be on providing additional options for connectivity, through Phoenix, to customers located in Denver.

“Denver and Colorado are very significant markets within the IT and high-tech industries,” says McClarty, quoted in the press release. “Statistically they have one of the highest concentrations of tech workers in the country, and several technology companies have headquarters there. However, connectivity is more limited than it is in Phoenix. We’re thrilled to be working with PeakColo to help address this situation and offer some additional options.”

Last week, WHIR TV posted a video interview with McClarty on the conditions surrounding the launch of the Phoenix NAP facility, and some of the sales circumstances associated with opening.

Phoenix NAP says its facility is PCI DSS validated and SAS 70 Type I certified. It expects to be Type II certified within six months.

April 22, 2010, Denver, Colorado – Denver hosting and colocation provider, PeakColo, announced the addition of a new dark fiber ring connecting their two data centers. The dark fiber ring will extend Peak Colo’s 100GB of peering across all seven Tier 1 ISPs to both their 15th Street and Pearl Street locations.
